Week of Wild Finishes
Week 10 delivered a thrilling slate of games, leaving the league standings with a familiar pair of leaders, while individual brilliance shone across the gridiron. The Buffalo Bills secured their place atop the AFC with a 9-1-0 record, mirroring the NFC’s best, the New Orleans Saints. The Saints also stretched their league-leading win streak to seven games, a feat matched only in determination by the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, who both hit eight wins and boast eight-game streaks.
Game of the Week: Bills Clinch Thriller, Chiefs Hold Off Denver
The most heart-stopping finish of the week belonged to the Buffalo Bills in their 36-35 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Quarterback Josh Allen had a massive performance, torching the Colts for 302 yards and three touchdowns. Despite a stellar effort from Indianapolis running back Jonathan Taylor, who rushed for 193 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, it was not enough. Allen sealed the victory with a game-winning touchdown pass to T. Johnson as the clock expired.
Elsewhere in the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs survived a scare from the Denver Broncos, winning 24-16. Denver burst out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead, but the Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes’ 242 passing yards, took control to enter halftime ahead 17-10. The Los Angeles AFC Chargers routed the Tennessee Titans 43-17, powered by a huge day from running back J.K. Dobbins, who rushed for 144 yards and two scores. The Detroit Lions dominated the Houston Texans 34-7 in a game they controlled in all phases, out-rushing Houston 130 to 74 yards.
In a competitive divisional matchup, the Cincinnati Bengals edged the Baltimore Ravens 30-25. Cincinnati’s Tee Higgins was locked in, snagging 110 receiving yards and a touchdown. The quarterbacks put on a show, as Bengals’ Joe Burrow and Ravens’ Lamar Jackson finished tied for the most passing yards of the week with 375 each. A nail-biter between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders saw Pittsburgh squeak by 36-33, largely thanks to kicker Chris Boswell, who booted five field goals, including a 55-yarder.
NFC Battles & Star Performances
The NFC witnessed several decisive victories and standout player outings. The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Dallas Cowboys 33-24 behind a huge day from running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns. The New Orleans Saints continued their winning ways, beating the Atlanta Falcons 27-15, with Alvin Kamara carrying the offense for 140 rushing yards.
The San Francisco 49ers topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-20 as Brock Purdy threw for 320 yards and three touchdowns. In a high-scoring contest, the Arizona Cardinals defeated the New York AFC Jets 40-27, with running back James Conner finding the end zone twice on his way to 117 rushing yards.
The Carolina Panthers narrowly defeated the New York NFC Giants 23-20. Despite the loss, Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. delivered a monumental performance, gaining 192 rushing yards and scoring two touchdowns.
