Game of the Week
This week’s honors go to Jon Shoemaker. Baltimore is looking like a true juggernaut and the Ravens are tough on both sides of the ball.

Arizona Cardinals 15 – Baltimore Ravens 38
The Baltimore Ravens hosted the Arizona Cardinals in week 2 of the USFFL and did not disappoint the home crowd, coming away with a 38-15 win.
1st Quarter
The game started slow for Baltimore as they received the opening kickoff and promptly went three and out. It would be the only drive they did not get points on. Arizona proceed to drive down the field mixing runs from Kenyan Drake with short and flat passes from Kyler Murray. The drive stalled at the Raven four and the Cardinals had to settle for a field goal and a 3-0 lead. Baltimore responded with a nice seven play, 75 yard drive capped off by a 24 yard Mark Ingram TD run. The XP gave the home team a 7-3 lead. Arizona came right back, driving the to the Raven’s 22 yard line before the drive stalled. Zane Gonzalez’s second field goal pulled the Cardinals to within one. The first quarter ended with Baltimore in possession and driving. Score after 1 quarter: Baltimore Ravens 7 – Arizona Cardinals 6.
2nd Quarter
Baltimore completed the drive in 8 plays on a 2 yard TD pass from Lamar Jackson to Miles Boykin. The score game Baltimore a 14-6 lead and it appeared we were going to have a shootout on our hands. The only difference was Arizona’s inability score TDs and having to settle for field goals. Arizona’s next drive started out much like the other two, as they drove into Baltimore territory. Facing a 4th and 1 at the Raven’s 44 yard line the Cardinal’s opted to go for it. Kyler Murray attempted a pass to the right flat and found two LBs waiting. The pass fell incomplete and Arizona turned the ball over on downs. Baltimore took advantage of the short field and drove 56 yards in 9 plays with Lamar Jackson running it in from 1 yard out to give the home team a 21-6 half way through the 2nd quarter. Arizona’s next drive was much like the last. Starting at their 25 they drove to the Baltimore 34 yard line where the drive stalled. Zane Gonzalez’s 51 yard attempt fell short and Baltimore took over with 3:36 remaining until halftime. Baltimore quickly drove to the Arizona 26 yard line where Lamar Jackson took the ball around the right end and out raced everyone to the end zone for the Raven’s fourth consecutive TD drive. The score gave Baltimore a commanding 28-6 lead. The Cardinals opted to kneel out the remaining time and regroup before receiving the 2nd half kickoff. Score after 2 quarters: Baltimore Ravens 28 – Arizona Cardinals 6.
3rd Quarter
After a touchback Arizona started the 2nd half from the 25 yard line. The Cardinals were still moving the ball rather well. They drove 50 yards on 12 plays, but again had the drive stall. This time at the Raven’s 25 yard line. Zane Gonzalez’s 42 yard field broke a streak of 21 unanswered points and put the score at 28-9. A holding penalty on the ensuing kickoff forced Baltimore to start their next drive at their own 13. They put together an 11 play, 82 yard drive that stalled at the Cardinal 4. Justin Tucker’s chip shot field goal put the lead back to 22 at 31-9. The Cardinals’ next drive was in progress as the 3rd quarter came to an end. Score after 3 quarters: Baltimore Ravens 31 – Arizona Cardinals 9.
The drive took the Cardinals from there own 22 to the Ravens’ 15 yard line in 19 plays. Facing a 4th and 5 and down by 22 the Cardinals opted to go for it. Kyler Murray completed his pass to Kenyan Drake, but Drake was dropped after a four yard gain. Baltimore took over on downs and proceed on there sixth consecutive scoring drive. This one went 85 yards in 7 plays and was capped off with a Gus Edwards 24 yard TD run. The score was now 38-9 with just over 8 minutes remaining. Arizona finally got into the end zone on their next drive. Facing a 3-3-5 defense the Cardinals drove 75 yards in 10 plays, scoring on an 11 yard pass from Murray to Drake. The two point attempt fell incomplete, making the score 38-15 with 3:36 to play. The Cardinals recovered the onside kick but were unable to do anything else before time expired.
Final score: Baltimore Ravens 38 – Arizona Cardinals 15
A couple notes. Arizona had an almost 2 to 1 advantage in time of possession. They also had 75 plays to Baltimore’s 47. Baltimore had two possessions in the second half, both scores. It was a messy game with 21 penalties and a boat load of injuries. Most notable was an injury to Earl Thomas that will cause him to miss next week’s game.
Up next: Arizona (1-1) hosts Carolina (0-2)
Baltimore (2-0) visits Kansas City (2-0) (edited)
Nice write-up Jon. We are looking forward to next weeks clash of the Unbeatens Baltimore vs. Kansas City.
