Los Angeles Rams, coached by Scott Schumacher, held off Indianapolis, coached by Tony Telleria, 24-21. Indianapolis erased a 17-6 deficit and took the lead in the fourth quarter, but Blake Corum’s 4-yard touchdown with 2:06 remaining gave Los Angeles the final margin. Houston, coached by Rudy Gobin, outlasted Tennessee, coached by Matt LaSalle, 40-36 as C.J. Stroud threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns.
New England, coached by Denis Ljung, escaped Carolina, coached by Jess Geller, 27-24. Carolina took a 24-20 lead with 1:45 left, but Drake Maye found TreVeyon Henderson for a 13-yard touchdown with 15 seconds remaining. In the write-up Denis mentioned an earlier turning point: a 76-yard Maye-to-Stefon Diggs touchdown was erased by a penalty before Carolina’s comeback.
Game of the Week: Chicago 34, Las Vegas 28 (OT)
Chicago, coached by Mike Martin, appeared to have control at 28-7 late in the third quarter, but Las Vegas, coached by Paul Conti, mounted a remarkable response. Geno Smith led a 17-play, 92-yard drive that ended with his 1-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 28 and send it to overtime.
Chicago’s defense made the decisive play in overtime, recovering a fumbled punt return at the Las Vegas 26. Four plays later, Caleb Williams found Colston Loveland for the 6-yard winning touchdown. The coach recap called Chicago fortunate winners after the Raiders’ sustained comeback, and the official report credited Smith with 277 passing yards and three touchdown passes in the loss.
