The USFFL Week 7 featured a slate of Division rivalries and exciting games. Whereas in the previous week, many games were settled by a few points scored in the last minute, most of the Week 7 games were decided well before the final seconds ticked off the clock. Kansas City, Oakland, Philadelphia, Seattle, New Orleans, Atlanta, Arizona, Cincinnati, and San Francisco all won by more than a touchdown, and most of these teams won by 10 points or more. On the other hand, Buffalo, Houston and New England each won by less than a TD.
The Division races stayed mostly the same, Denis Ljung and the Patriots holds a 3 1/3 game lead in the AFC East. Jon Shoemaker’s Ravens are a game up in the AFC North. Tim Ervin’s Chiefs are 2 1/2 up in the AFC West, and Pete Quaglierini’s Titans are 2 up in the South. Turning to the NFC, Bruce Mogg’s Eagles win over the Cowboys ties up the standings in the East. The Vikings loss puts Mike Martin’s Bears a half game up in the North. Another week, another win for the Atlanta Falcons – Anthony Tangorra’s team is a game up on the Saints. Finally, Rich Peer’s 49’ers are a half game up on the Seahawks.
While the Eagle’s big win over the Cowboys was exciting and knotted up the NFC East, this weeks Game of The Week goes to Zach Zalesne and Buffalo’s 38-35 win over the Dolphins. Read on for more:
Game of the Week

Battle of the 0-5 teams but it was a good one. This game featured 8 lead changes and great coaching from both sides. Josh Allen set the tone early with an interception on the first offensive play of the game. Ryan Fitzmagic and the Dolphins quickly flipped this around for 7 on a pass to the tight end Smythe who had a good game with 2 receiving touchdowns. The Bills responded right away with a 55 yard bomb to John Brown but could only convert this into a field goal. After a strong defensive stand, the Bills got the ball back and a couple more long completions from Josh Allen set them up for a 7 yard passing TD to the tight end Dawson Knox, unfortunately Hauschka couldn’t convert the extra point, 9-7 Bills. After a quick 3 and out, Josh Allen gets the ball back looking to stay aggressive and on the second play of the drive he connects with John Brown again, this time for 61 yards and another TD, Bills up 16-7 and looking to run away with this one, end of the first quarter.
After quick punts from both teams on their ensuing drives, the Dolphins offense finally comes out to play. Fitzpatrick gets the momentum started with a 7 play, 73 yard drive, capped with a big 56 yard pass to Davante Parker to put the pressure back on the Bills offense, 16-14 Bills. The Bills offense puts together a tough 9 play drive in response but the penalty bug which has been haunting them all season kills their momentum and they are forced to punt back to the Dolphins. To add to the Bills frustration, Corey Bojorquez, the punter, had an awful night only averaging 35 yards on his 6 punts in the game. Dolphins receive the punt with 5 minutes left in the first half and are hoping to take the lead going in to halftime. They execute a perfect 10 play drive that takes up 3:30 of the remaining clock and ends in another Fitzpatrick short TD pass to the tight end Smythe to grab the lead back from the Bills, 21-16 Miami going in to the half. Miami was fantastic in the red zone all game scoring TD’s on all 4 of their red zone possessions.
Both offenses are sloppy coming out of halftime, Miami starts with a 3 and out, Buffalo responds with a 6 play drive that is killed by costly penalties, and then Fitzpatrick tries a 30 yard pass down the middle but it is picked off by the the Bills star safety Micah Hyde. The Bills are able to capitalize off the momentum with 4 strait big plays including a 34 yard pass to John Brown and a 26 yard run from Singletary, ending the drive with an 11 yard TD pass to John Brown, his second of the game, 23-21 Buffalo retakes the lead. Miami comes out and puts together a tough, methodical 11 play drive including a couple of 3rd down conversions and caps it off with a one yard TD run to retake the lead with 3:18 left in the 3rd, 28-23 Miami. Josh Allen cant get anything going on his next possession and a 3 and out gives the ball right back to the Dolphins looking to pull away. Unfortunately Fitzpatrick can’t keep the momentum going as he throws his second interception of the game after only 2 plays setting up the Bills offense with great field position at their own 39 yard line going in to the fourth quarter.
Josh Allen and the Bills are easily able to capitalize off the turnover with a quick 5 play TD drive ending with an 8 yard Devin Singletary run. The Bills decide to go for two in this situation to hopefully push the lead up to 3 points after that missed extra point at the beginning of the game and a successful Josh Allen QB sneak puts the Bills back in the lead by 3, 31-28 with 13:48 remaining. Knowing how crucial a TD would be here, Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins O come back on the field and continue their slow methodical passing attack which has done them well throughout the game. This time they are able to put together another awesome 13 play, 5 and a half minute drive with nearly no hiccups and slam in another 1 yard touchdown run to retake the lead 35-31 with 8:24 left in the game, exactly what they needed. Now its Josh Allen’s turn. The Bills offense has mostly been fueled by big plays this game but with little time remaining, they know that a long touchdown drive is what they need and they are able to pull it off. Josh Allen strings together a perfect 10 play, 4 and a half minute touchdown drive, both the longest of the game for the Bills coming right when they need it. The end of this drive comes down to a tough 3rd and 4 at the 4 yard line with Tony calling the correct defense but Devin Singletary is still able to slam in the 4 yard run to give the Bills the late lead that might be enough to win it, Bills up 38-35 with less than 4 minutes left. Now its the Dolphins last chance with plenty of time, all 3 timeouts, and only needing a field goal to tie. They start off the drive with a quick 3rd down conversion to keep them alive but then they remind the league why they are 0-5 a couple of plays later with a costly penalty on their next third down attempt (which they would’ve converted otherwise). This stalls the drive and after an easy 4th and 13 stop, the Bills get the ball back and one first down a couple of kneel downs cements their first win of the season.
Congrats on the Win Zach!
