Season 22 – Week 7

There are 17 games scheduled in season 22 of the USFFL so we are still two weeks away from midseason. Bye weeks have started, but the majority of the teams have played seven games to date. Even though we have not reached the mid-point, several teams are starting to pull away from the pack in their respective divisions. In the AFC, the Los Angeles Chargers (6-0) remain undefeated. While the NFC boasts three undefeated teams Seattle (7-0), Green Bay (7-0), and Atlanta (5-0-1). Congratulations to coaches Anthony Tangorra, Scott Mueller, Dennis Crowley, and Dan Morin for their seasons to date!

In the AFC, New England leads Miami and Buffalo by 3.5 games, Cincinnati leads Cleveland and Pittsburgh by 1.5 games, Tennessee and Indianapolis are tied, and Los Angeles is ahead of Las Vegas and Kansas City by 2.5 games. The complete standing are in the following table.

In the NFC New York leads Dallas by 1.5, Green Bay leads Minnesota and Chicago by 2.5, Atlanta leads Tampa Bay by 2.5, and Seattle leads Los Angeles by 3.

Game of the Week

Atlanta 28 – Miami 28 (Tie- OT)

After 3 hours (no disconnects) and 5 quarters, Falcons and Dolphins settled for a hard fought 28-28 tie. By the time the end of the 4th quarter came around, my brain was so fried that I decided to go silent in order to be able to concentrate in the OT…This tie was a moral victory for me as I was down 14 points with a little over 3 minutes left in regulation and had opted to sit Tua in the first half due to the fact that this was an interconference game and Tua has over usage issues. Great game called by Dan, particularly on defense where in one stretch he correctly double teamed assorted pass catchers in SEVEN PASS PLAYS IN A ROW!   Falcons undefeated record is not just luck but I knew that before we started the game.

Tony almost knocked off the undefeated leader of the NFC South, but the two teams had to settle for a tie after a full 10 minute overtime. By the way, a big congrats to Dan Morin – Dan took a few years away from the USFFL and is back with a vengeance!
